Why Has Demand For VoIP Doubled This Year For Small Businesses?

It’s been claimed that “hosted VoIP services and products” demand has almost doubled in the last year. According to figures released on several on-line sites I visit, the first quarter of 2011 sales of home and business IP telephony systems was almost double the same quarter in 2010.  As more SMBs (small-to-medium businesses) begin to understand and realize the cost-effectiveness of VoIP, their curiosity is leading to more cost-saving strategies for their businesses. Many of us have a tough time wrapping our heads around not needing to depend on major carriers (AT&T, Comcast, etc) for all our land line needs. “Broadband” is a concept we associate only with data (computers) but not with voice (telephones).
